The Skiing and Snowboarding
The principality of Andorra is set high in the Pyrenees nestling between the French and Spanish boarders. Andorra is Tax free and an ideal place to take a winter sports holiday as it combines excellent resort quality, an enviable snow record and long sunny days with great value for money. Who could ask for more?
The ski resorts are famous for their high standards of ski school, have their own character and personality and are all blessed with well-groomed pistes. Andorra’s ski stations are perfectly suited for beginners and intermediates with their wide open pistes and long tree lined pistes, both of which are great ego boosters! There are also black runs and mogul fields for the advanced skiers.
Andorra welcomes snowboarders, the wide pistes ensure the rapid development of beginners and intermediates. There are also some excellent parks in the resorts which include half pipes, jumps and rails. Go and get yourself some ‘air time’ – or just watch the professionals!

Non-ski Activities
This tax-free haven not only gives you the opportunity to enjoy the excellent snow conditions but also take advantage of the extensive range of après-ski on offer. All are part of Andorra’s undeniable attraction and charm.
If you still have some energy left, there is the famous buzzing nightlife that is evident on any evening of the week in most resorts. A variety of pubs and clubs for you to go and enjoy the party. If you have the energy then you won’t be disappointed.
Andorra is famous for its tax fee shopping and here you can find almost anything you want with items including designer clothes and sports wear, perfumes and jewellery, electrical goods and of course, alcoholic drinks.
Caldea is one of Europe’s largest thermal spas and a must for any visitor to Andorra. The stunning glass building that covers most of this relaxation centre is a dramatic sight that encloses a place where you can forget the aches and pains of skiing or snowboarding. You can lay back and chill out in over 6000 square meters of saunas, jacuzzis, outside lagoons, saunas, bubble beds, a variety of different pools and much more.
There are also many other options for fun such as bowling, going to the cinema and ice-skating.
Points of Interest for teachers
As well as having a fantastic holiday enjoying winter sports and everything that Andorra has to offer, there are also things to be learnt and taken advantage of such as;
- P.E. Develop skills and show improvement for GCSE and other exam modules. We can arrange professional film makers to capture student progress on the slopes and edit DVD to support assessment back in the UK.
- Languages. Catalan, Spanish, French and Portuguese are spoken locally. Students will be able to practice in real life situations.
- Geography / Geology. The geothermal energy displayed in the Caldea springs offers a perfect opportunity to learn about this subject.
- History. Andorra is an independent, democratic ‘parliamentary co-principality’, which is the direct result of a joint sovereignty agreement between France and Spain being set up over 800 years ago.
- Travel and Tourism. A good chance to study both the negative and positive impacts that tourism can have on a mountain resort.
